Nature plasticine pictures!

This artwork was made by the Preps when they were learning about plasticine like the birds, bugs, beasts and animals plasticine post. The children modelled plasticine trees, birds, flowers, rainbows and various other creatures and flora to make a picture on coloured cover paper.  The Preps really enjoyed using the modelling material!  Here are some wonderful examples…

Art and Soul!

At school we had a visit from local artists, Michelle and Jennifer, who were teaching us about how we can express our emotions through art and how art can make us feel better when we are feeling sad. The grade sixes and fives were able to participate in this program for two sessions each. During the first session, we talked about the importance of having positive thoughts to improve our self-esteem.  We masked off areas of a canvas and painted the sections in our favourite tonal colours.  The following session, we all received a piece of paper where we wrote down something nice about ourself, and our class mates also added to our list so that when you are feeling really bad you can turn your canvas around and see the wonderful things about you!  We then removed the masking tape from the dry paintings and added some more strips to different areas.  We painted swirls and curvy lines over the canvas in complementary colours and removed the tape to complete the striking art work.  Here are some of the grade fives and sixes paintings …

Plasticine beasts, animals, birds and bugs!
