What a beautiful start to Art for Grade 6 students. Thanks to @mrsallainart this idea was perfect for the Grade 6 students, who are currently reading Wonder in their classrooms. Students chose and drew a face outline similar to their own, outlined with permanent pen, and filled in with warm and cool water colours. To create a special effect on the face, students added small amounts of salt to the wet water colours. Once dry students thought deep and hard about words to best describe themselves and fill the page with these in different fonts and styles. Each is so individual and I was so proud of their thought process and outcome. Such an inspiring display to have.
Who doesn’t love a beach day and building sandcastles? Grade 2 students began the year drawing their own sandcastle, outlining in permanent marker (which is always a highlight!) then painting using water colours. To create a special effect, students sprinkled small amounts of salt on their wet paint. Looks great once dry and adds texture to the final piece. Just loved the different creations of sandcastles.
