Our Preps had a really fun time learning how to use oil pastels making different marks and patterns. We then turned these into crazy Monsters with the colours of the rainbow using water colour paints. The students loved watching the oil pastels resist. Each monster was different with eyes, teeth and eyebrows! They look so bright on display.
Preps have made the cutest aerial snowmen for Winter! The background is using pastel resist with white pastel and blue water colours. The students were able to trace and cut circles to create their snowman and paste foam on the back of each circle to give a 3D effect. They loved using the chalk pastels and a sprinkling of glitter to finish! Have a look at them in our school corridor next time you are in!
This year, Leyla and Steph, our Art Captains for 2014, started a new program called, ‘Art Captains Pick of the Week’. Children at the school, could enter artwork from home or school to win a certificate and have their artwork displayed in the hallway in front of the art room door.
The Preps inquiry learning subject are farm animals so they made pictures of colourful cows. Here are some nice ones:
The preps made these fluffy sheeps because they are learning about farm animals. They made them by using fluff for the sheeps wool and black paper and white paper for the sheeps legs and head. They also coloured the paper with green pastels for the background.
The Preps read the picture story book ‘The Pros and Cons of Being a Frog’. They then made made little frogs out of egg cartons and colourful paper from the book. Here is what they look like:
This artwork was made by the Preps when they were learning about plasticine like the birds, bugs, beasts and animals plasticine post. The children modelled plasticine trees, birds, flowers, rainbows and various other creatures and flora to make a picture on coloured cover paper. The Preps really enjoyed using the modelling material! Here are some wonderful examples…
