Kandinsky Inspired Ice Creams!

Love these so much! Grade one students had so much fun making circles similar to artist Kandinsky, and painting inside with bright, happy, and summer water colours. We talked about circles overlapping, size and making use of the page. Creating the ice cream with a range of collage materials certainly was exciting for the students as they got to be imaginative and use different techniques. They look delicious and turned out a treat!

Day and Night

Grade 3 students have been learning about Day and Night in their classrooms. To coincide with this, they created their own rotating Earth, with one side day and one side night. They achieved the look of day and night, by sponge painting with light and dark colours either side. Earth was placed in the centre and made with blue and green tissue paper on clear contact. The result was very effective, especially with the detail of the white pencil on the dry sponge painting of stars, sun, moon etc. Such a great display in our school corridor.

Beach days…..

Who doesn’t love a beach day and building sandcastles? Grade 2 students began the year drawing their own sandcastle, outlining in permanent marker (which is always a highlight!) then painting using water colours. To create a special effect, students sprinkled small amounts of salt on their wet paint. Looks great once dry and adds texture to the final piece.  Just loved the different creations of sandcastles.

Prep Line Monsters

Our Preps had a really fun time learning how to use oil pastels making different marks and patterns. We then turned these into crazy Monsters with the colours of the rainbow using water colour paints. The students loved watching the oil pastels resist. Each monster was different with eyes, teeth and eyebrows! They look so bright on display.

Winter is here!

Preps have made the cutest aerial snowmen for Winter! The background is using pastel resist with white pastel and blue water colours. The students were able to trace and cut circles to create their snowman and paste foam on the back of each circle to give a 3D effect. They loved using the chalk pastels and a sprinkling of glitter to finish! Have a look at them in our school corridor next time you are in!

Sailboat Monoprints

Grade 4 students used both water colour paints and acyrlic paint to give the effect of a reflection of their gorgeous sailboats for Summer in Term 1.  A simple fold of the paper and the results were stunning as you can see!
