Who doesn’t love a beach day and building sandcastles? Grade 2 students began the year drawing their own sandcastle, outlining in permanent marker (which is always a highlight!) then painting using water colours. To create a special effect, students sprinkled small amounts of salt on their wet paint. Looks great once dry and adds texture to the final piece. Just loved the different creations of sandcastles.
Grade 2 students have been learning about Water and have made these amazing collages using different techniques. They used sponges and mixed different paints, white, blues and greens to make the colours of the ocean. Once dry, the students tore the painted paper to create waves for their boats. Just love the patterned paper boats sailing away!
Grade 2 students have been looking at all things Transport and On the Move. They completed some gorgeous hot air balloons, which involved lots of paper weaving and smaller vehicles such as cars, buses and planes with icypole sticks. Love the display of them, hovering over James Rizzi inspired houses. Such a burst of colour in our school corridor.
The Grade 1 & 2 students made Autumn Trees to be displayed in the school’s main corridor during Autumn. They learnt about warm colours such as red, orange and yellow, and they used these colours for the background. The trees really stand out because they were painted in black, and this looks very effective! In addition, the students used glitter to make their artwork look brilliant!

The Grade 1s and 2s have been exploring and learning about organic and geometrical shapes in art. They made artwork using a combination of these shapes on an A3 piece of coloured paper. Using their cutting skills, the students cut out different shapes out of coloured paper to stick onto the paper. They mirrored the shapes with the paper that they cut it from to create stunning artwork!

The Grade 1 and 2 students made animals using different shapes to create pictures of colourful animals. They used watercolour paints and made borders for their artwork.
